The Prophets are a trio from NYC consisting of Kimon Katafigiotis (vocals, guitars, organ), Marc Gambino (bass, vocals) and Rob Savoy (drums, vocals).

For their new album, eleven original and five cover songs are recorded with an additional DVD of four topical music videos, three live acoustic videos, and an extra few (older) music videos.

It immediately begins with the rousing title cut, a great Blues-Rock song with cool guitar playing, pulsating bass and a Rock percussion sound. This is also the first video to see on the DVD.

The breathtaking pace is then preserved in the grooving "Far off Places"; here the 3 great musicians play rock music reminiscent of the 70’s to the 80’s.

The songs sound mostly like Rock, and are a communal composition of the three members, the lyrics coming mostly from Kimon.

They also play Pop songs like "A Letter from Oceanside", a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s "Fire" and a ballad of Nick Lowe’s “Peace, Love and Understanding.”

Nevertheless, I like the rhythmically-stressed pieces better. Highlights are the pure Funk of “Supply and Demand “ with breathtaking solos by Kimon, a great cover of David Bowie’s "Heroes" that sounds like Rock, and “Blind Leading The Blind”. Gambino wrote the lyrics to "Captured", which musically is dominated by the bass and drums to create passionate Blues-Rock. From the acoustic DVD songs, I like “Time To Move On” best of all.

The three members of the group have grown up in the NYC club scene, acquired rich experience in their journey and now they reach to the stars. The album is musical and interpreted through first-class playing, the songs are attractive and the scope is one of value with the generous DVD.

Hearing it all is a pure pay-off.
